The “Long” is a mythical animal in ancient Chinese legend, capable of generating clouds and rain, good at change, and in charge of the world’s water system, which was later used as a symbol for emperors and kings.

Long in Chinese legend is a good change, can rise clouds and rain, benefit all things of the divine animal, for the long of the scaly insects, the first of the four spirits (Cang Long, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Xuan Wu). The Long represents the power of divine royalty, the power to rule the four seas.

Chinese Longs are very different from Western dragons in their respective cultures. Chinese Longs are auspicious creatures, while Western dragons represent greed and evil. Therefore, it is not appropriate to translate Long as dragon.
