Da Yu, the leader of the Xia Hou Clan in the ancient times, was the grandson of the Huang Di. As the first king of the Xia Dynasty, known as Xia Yu, he became a sage emperor in the legendary era of the Ancient Era, on a par with Fu Xi and Huang Di. His most notable achievements were the control of the monstrous flood, the delimitation of the nine states, and the establishment of the Xia Dynasty, for which he was honored with the name “Da Yu”.
