The 4th Series of Chinese Drinking Slangs includes “喝到位”(Drink to the right extent) and more. There are four.
1.“喝到位”(Drink to the right extent)
It means drinking to an appropriate extent, allowing everyone to enjoy the process of drinking without over – drinking and causing 失态 or other situations. It emphasizes a moderate and enjoyable state of drinking.
E.g: “Today, let’s all drink to the right extent. Just have a good time.”
Attn:Grasp the “right extent” according to the alcohol tolerance and state of the people present. Avoid someone drinking too much or not having enough. Also, pay attention to the change of atmosphere during the drinking process.
2.“杯中不留酒”(Don’t leave any wine in the glass)
It advocates finishing the wine in the glass without leaving any remaining, reflecting a bold and unrestrained drinking style and also showing the cherishing of wine.
E.g: “Let’s be bold. Don’t leave any wine in the glass!”
Attn:Respect others’ alcohol tolerance. Don’t force those who really can’t finish the drink. Also, when drinking yourself, act according to your capacity and avoid over – drinking in pursuit of not leaving wine.
3.“抬庄”(Give support)
At the dinner table, it means actively responding to and cooperating with others’ proposals, such as drinking, chatting, etc., to liven up the atmosphere and support the host or the main character.
E.g: “Everyone give support. This gathering will surely be lively today.”
Attn:Participate actively but don’t be too exaggerated. Keep it natural and appropriate. Also, don’t dominate the conversation to avoid stealing the limelight from the host or the main character.
4.“炸雷子”(Mix white wine and beer and drink it in one gulp)
A way of drinking, usually pouring a small cup of white wine into a large cup of beer and then drinking it all in one gulp. This way is relatively bold and the alcohol effect is relatively strong.
E.g:“Let’s ‘Mix white wine and beer and drink it in one gulp’ tonight to experience this special way of drinking.”
Attn:It requires a high alcohol tolerance. Make sure you are in good health and have enough alcohol tolerance before trying. Also, this way of drinking can easily make you drunk. Pay attention to the drinking rhythm and avoid over – drinking and causing harm to your body.
