Chinese Mythology: Ru Shou, God of Autumn

Preface: Ru Shou (蓐收), also known as that, is the god of gold, the god of autumn, the god of the West, the god of the punishment of the sky, and one of the five gods of the five elements in ancient Chinese mythology. The son of Shao Hao and his auxiliary gods.

Ru Shou is a magical deity.

deliǎnshàngzhǎngzhebáidemáo , kànláihěnbié 。
He has white hair on his face, looking very special.

穿chuānzhejiànshǎnshǎnguāngdejīnchángpáo , fēichánghuá 。
He wears a shining golden robe, very gorgeous.

deshǒuxiànglǎoyàngyǒufēngdezhuǎzi , qióng 。
His hands have sharp claws like a tiger, and he is extremely powerful.

He always carries a big axe, looking mighty.

A snake winds around his left ear, making people dare not approach.

When he travels, he always rides on two majestic Longs.

Ru Shou is a very important deity in agricultural civilization.

He is the guardian of harvest and order, and people respect him very much.

zhùzàiyáoyuǎndeyōushān , shǒuzhe西fāngwànliǎngqiānde 。
He lives in the distant You Mountain, guarding the land of twelve thousand li in the west.

Zuòwéibáishàohàodezhùshǒu , fēichángyǒuzhìhuì 。
As the capable assistant of Bai Di Shao Hao, he is very wise.

Chuánshuōháishìbáideqīnshēngérzi , chénglebáideyǒnggǎn 。
Legend has it that he is also the biological son of Bai Di, inheriting Bai Di’s bravery.

shìqiūshén , quèbǎoměiniánqiūtiānfēngdēng 。
He is the god of autumn, ensuring a bountiful harvest every autumn.

Zàideshǒuxià , ránjièzǒngshìbǎochízhexiépínghéng 。
Under his protection, nature always maintains harmony and balance.

Wànzàideguǎnxià , yǒudeshēngzhǎng , fánróngmàoshèng 。
Everything under his management grows orderly, prosperous, and lush.
