The Yu Huang Da Di （玉皇大帝） is the leader of the gods in Taoist mythology, and is regarded by the common people as the “emperor” of the sky and the supreme ruler of the world of gods, or the “Yu Di （玉帝）” for short.
Legend has it that long ago, there was a kingdom of Guang Yan Miao Le, the king and queen were childless in their old age, so they went to a Taoist priest to pray, and then the queen dreamed that Tai Shang Dao Jun (the supreme god of Chinese Taoist mythology) gave her a child, and she woke up from the dream and became pregnant. She was pregnant for a year and gave birth to a child on the ninth day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. This child grew up and inherited the throne, but soon gave it up to go to the mountains to practice Buddhism, and then went through 3,000 Jie to become a Jin Xian, and then more than a hundred million Jie to become the Yu Di.
In Chinese folklore, he and his wife, Wang Mu Niang Niang, are in charge of the Heavenly Court and jointly govern the three realms.
